Online Resource Library

Introduction to the Project

The purpose of the project is to create a list of resources designed to be used with 8th grade mathematics students who are focusing on a variety of topics that will prepare them for their future endeavors in mathematics. By creating this list, I intend to provide a list of internet-based resources that may be used in classes to enhance instruction or help with differentiation for the benefit of all learners. My writing is geared towards teachers of these students, whether the classes be 8th grade math that pre-Algebra focused or 8th grade Algebra, the two most common focuses when teaching these students. The choices of material are also made with the intention that the resources also fit within 8th grade mathematics standards in the state of Michigan. I have divided the resources into four main strands coming from the Principles and Standards for Mathematics created by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Information regarding those resources will be designed to answer four questions:

                    -- What is being learned?
-- How does learning take place?
-- What role does technology play?
-- How does it fit within school curriculum?

This library of websites was designed as a part of a course through my Masters of Education Technology program at Michigan State University. As a part of this project, my required lesson is found under the "Geometry" tab.
